This is where you post what movies you've seen so far. Since I'm starting late, I won't list what movies I've already seen and just go from today and onward.

BOB AND CAROL AND TED AND ALICE (1969) - Mazursky

Image

Pretty awesome movie, some cool sexual liberation stuff. First Mazursky I've seen, doubt his rest will live up to this though. Natalie Wood is gorgeous, so I'm wondering how much of the movie was dependent on that.

CASHBACK (2006?) - Ellis

Image

Terrible.

THE SHAPE OF THINGS (2003) - LaBute

Image

The first LaBute movie I saw was IN THE COMPANY OF MEN, and I'm pretty sure it was his best. WICKER MAN remake was a wank of a good time, but the original was way better. This lacked the impact IN THE COMPANY OF MEN had and dragged it out far too long. The protagonist was one of the most unlikable fucks imaginable and there was pretty much no attachment at all, so watching him get ripped apart inspired me to cheer more than become enraged. The characters felt closer to those from THE WICKER MAN than anything, but without Nicholas Cage it just doesn't work. Nicholas Cage is amazing, by the way.

Is this a log just of what we've watched, meaning re-watching counts, or new movies we watched? Here I'm assuming re-watching counts.

PINEAPPLE EXPRESS (2008)
Image

Hilarious. Not just for stoners. Plenty of sheer craziness and awesome dialogue for everyone.

CASINO ROYALE (2007)
Image

Great bond movie.

HEAT (1995)

Image

Classic. Al Pacino is intense.

Kill Bill 1 + 2

Image

Pure awesome, dialog and action are superb.

Terrible movie, was way too slow paced and boring for me.

Kung Fu Panda

It was pretty good, I enjoyed it.

The Fall
Image
This was very good, I recommend it.

Boy A
Image
Very good movie as well.

Wall E
Image
Loved it.

Tropic Thunder
Image
I thought it was alright, a couple of funny parts. The beginning was funny.

No frame of reference, etc.

And 28 DAYS LATER was terrific. The pacing was about right, especially with the intention of polarizing the action sequences.

I saw that movie about a month ago.

Sort of generic, but still some good laughs.

it came out a couple days ago, and wasn't leaked. Bullshit

edit: It hasn't come out yet, only people who have seen it are major critics, and I checked everywhere, no review screener was released.

Last few weeks.

Love Actually - Watched it for class. I can see why girls like it. Not offensively bad but not terribly interesting either. Too many story arcs made them all shallow.

The Long Kiss Goodnight
- For class too. Good silly fun but the last 30 minutes or so dragged. The comedy worked more often than not. lol'd at the "right wing nationalists fake terrorist attacks and blame it on the muslims to promote militarism" for a movie that came out pre 9/11.

The Killer
- Supposedly better than Hard Boiled but I don't know, didn't dig the whole love story. The relationship between the two men seemed pretty homoerotic for me. I found the villain to be way too silly too (How the hell does he keep not dying?!).

Bringing Up Baby
- For class. Enjoyed it. Good honest comedy.

Falling Down
- Not enough Michael Douglas scenes, too much boring David Duvall cop scenes. Ending was meh.

Transsiberian - Paced too slow, payoff wasn't satisfactory, acting a bit heavy handed at times. Props to Harrelson for playing against type.

Eraserhead
- Finally got around to watching it. I could appreciate it but I didn't like it. Some fun scenes/images but overall I didn't feel much.

Gummo - I had more fun watching Gummo than Eraserhead. Nothing I'd really want to watch again but some scenes were great (Korine and black midget).

Million Dollar Baby
- Saw it for the second time, first time was when it came out. Liked it the first time, liked it more the second.

The Big Lebowski - Saw it for the second time in a while. Liked it about the same amount both times, didn't gain anything new from watching it again but I had forgotten a few scenes and plot points.

Up the Yangtze
- Not as informative as I would've liked, but a decent investigation of two people, if not of the dam and it's effects as a whole.

The Science of Sleep
- Enjoyed it. Call it bubblegum surrealism but I had fun.

Tell No One - Solid thriller. Good pacing, likable main character. Just an all around decent movie with nothing ground breaking.

Red Dawn - Recommended by a prof. Another "watch it differently in a post 9/11 world" movie. Still a good time either way. Swayze is a cool cat.

Rec. - Decent atmosphere, but in the end it relied too heavily on "fright" scares. The fake news thing was believable, but the main actress was annoying too frequently.

Peppermint Candy - Hard to watch at times out of sheer uncomfortableness, lacked good pacing, maybe a touch overacted. But the central theme was a good one and I genuinely pitied the son of the bitch by the end.

Paris Je T'aime
- More hits than misses, a fun watch, if not just to see the differences between how Americans and Europeans (and Asians) direct films. Cameo spotting is fun.

Adaptation - Least favourite of Kaufman's. Maybe it was just Nicolas Cage but other than the Cooper/Streep scenes I didn't like it.

13 Tzameti - Slooow exposition, bad ending. Good concept but barely taken anywhere. So little character development, and by the time you DO like the guy a bit, the movie's over. Far and away best scene was Round 1.

A Day Without a Mexican - Further proof that you should not pick a random movie off the shelf without knowing anything about it, and not let girls pick movies either. Funny to watch for about 15 minutes before the pain is too much that you have to turn it off.

The Sea Inside - Decent. Pretty pedestrian all the way through, with only one real winner of a scene (conversation with the quad. priest).

All About My Mother
- Maybe I'm just not well read/watched enough to appreciate all the references, but I just plain did not enjoy watching this movie.

Bubba Ho-Tep - I could see why this is cult. I liked it, may even watch it again sometime later but I wasn't blown away.

Pecker - Ugh, didn't get it at all. Maybe I'll give John Waters another go in a few years.

Psycho Beach Party - I don't even know anything about beach movies but I still had a lot of fun watching this. Some genuinely funny stuff in here.

Kissing Jessica Stein - The most fun I'll have watching a movie about lesbians. I thought the sexuality was handled well and both the comedy/drama worked.

Bang the Drum Slowly
- Great movie. Watched it in class and by the end about half the class had walked out on it (mostly girls). Their loss. Although I can see how it would have very little appeal for female viewers.
