When I first started heavily playing on ladder (3-4 years ago) the conventional rule for maphacks (and everything in general, but only maphack applied to me) was: get a new maphack after every reset of the ladder/patch of D2. So my gambit was always to rough it out a month and wait for the new models to be tried by others and take one that has many comments praising it and no comments about getting banned by it. This time around, the latest ones I see belong to the October 2011 generation. I cannot find a single maphack time stamped after the May 2012 reset/patch. In sifting through a couple hundred web pages, I read a thread that appeared to imply that Blizzard has not been updating the detection protocols as vigorously as they used to. This would suggest that the Oct11 models may still be safe to use.

Can someone please confirm or deny this theory? Have any of you continued using the Oct11 models after the May12 reset without any trouble? If so, cold you please include a link to the thread of the maphack you use along with your testimony? I deleted mine when the reset happened and would prefer to use one that has been tested in this ladder.

Thanks.

I'm a new D2 player, having played D3, and would be interested in this info as well.

Thanks in advance.

Presently, I have given up on people responding. I have 1 more set of keys than I need, so I will have a level 1 on a dummy account use a maphack 3-10 times a day for 2 weeks. After that, I will call it safe to use and will use it with my real characters. I am presently on Day 3 of 14. I will let you know my final results when I have them.

I presume that you'll send me a note or post what your finding are, and hopefully point me to a working map hack?

I mean, after all, we all can help each other right? (please?)

Ok, so the 2 weeks of test driving the latest D2MR out there that I can find is coming to a close with no visible problems. The maphack works and have not had any notice of being detected (no bans, restricted, key/IP lock, ect).

The link on this site is viewtopic.php?p=4534730, but the download requires a premium account for speedyshare (or whatever the host is). http://elitegrounds.net/d2Hacks.html has a direct download that has been scanned for viruses both by elitegrounds and by myself. Be sure to download the top one on that list, given that the old versions are also posted below the up to date one.
