As Diablo I, howlong do you think D2 will stand?

That's hard to answer, it depends on how many ex-D2 players like D3 enough to stay on it for a long time. I still play the two of them.
Take a look at Counter-Strike. It's still widely played cause many people aren't too fond of Source.

Ive put around 40 hours into D3 and so far I still prefer D2. D3 is just so not D2. No ladder (fast level cap), weird public game system, 4 people games. Meh. I'll definitely be playing D3 until I beat Inferno but I don't see D3 having the staying power that D2 has for so incredibly long. As of now the only thing I see that will keep D3 alive for more than a few months is PvP (if it turns out to not suck) and then the inevitable force feeding of expansions to keep the game relevant. I don't see myself "going back" to D2 since I stopped playing a few years ago anyway but I definitely don't see me playing D3 to anywhere near the capacity that I've played D2 which is probably a blessing in disguise since I can't afford the time like I used to be able to.

Alot of people, especially in poor nations, won't be able to afford a computer capable of running D3, D2 can run on pretty much any crap computer. D2 is also a terrific game even as dated as it is. I play D3 and still break out my D2 characters once in a while,
