I've edited the source to remove the from-to ip's and add a line break after every chat entry... It's much easier for me to read, but I can't figure out how to recompile it without missing dependencies, so you'd have to have Visual Studio 2005 installed to be able to use it I think.. Can anyone either tell me how, or point me to a guide for how to compile something while embedding any dependent resources in VS2005?

Sorry to bump this up again, but why the hell does wow sniffer makes my computer Beep from times to times... someone will say something, then someone else will say something but it will come out as gibberish ( not even letters ) and will make a system beep... its annoying and i'm wondering why it's doing that. if someone could help me, i'd apreciate.

The random beep sound occurs because there is a certain ASCII char that makes Windows beep your PC-speaker.

I would assume the random gibberish (including the sound) comes when the server sends some kind of information that isn't chat, but the sniffer client thinks it is, thus printing it out as characters.

Thought it was that at first, until i decided to compare WoW chat and what was on the sniffer.

Y : blah blah blah 1
y :blah blah blah 2 <----- this comes out as gibberish and bleeps. ( your right about the bleep tho, it doesnt always bleep when it comes out as gibberish...

It's people on MY faction that say normal things when this happen.. I wonder if i could configure that to hear only yells/says?
Also, is there a way to disable the bleep so that every time the char pops up, it doesn't bleep?

Uhm its not patched...

Last night I went to Blasted Lands to do my Tabard Quest and as usual way too many alliance ganking horde. They did say and yell a lot so I fired up wowsniffer and sure I could read what they were saying, which was pretty cool.

As for the strange text that make beeps, its mostly when people link items [Krol Blade] as an example that you get the gibberish. If you look closer to the text it starts with a color code which is normally gray/white/green/blue/purple if you know how to figure it out.

I also removed the from-to ip address line and it compiled perfectly in VS 2005.

Hehe this program is well fun.

1 example which was kinda fun and made me laugh a bit.

When me and some friends were at Hellfire Ramparts with PvP on, then there were some Alliance talking all kinds of BS. So i looked on this program and found them saying stuff like:

"Cman, we can take em"
"Nuke the druid down first!"

One thing i find kinda irritating, and that's i get spammed on the program with stuff like "GUILD MAP 45 5323 2235" so makes it kinda hard for me to find the 'chat' parts. Anyone knows what the heck that is?

Oh and one other 'fun' part is that you can see whatever your party members are doing, almost EVERYTHING, doesn't matter how far away they are from you.

I am receiving an error from this program.

Quote:
WoWSniffer 0.1a

by

cReDiAr

Only one device detected...
Sniffing on: 192.168.1.46
Error WSAIoctl = 10022

Any possible solution to this? I have tried packet sniffers before but only could get one to work.

that might be a mod that you have, sending information via guild

gatherer, or some map mod like it
