Hey

after reading this news: http://esec-lab.sogeti.com/dotclear/ind ... s-firmware

I just got some few ideas.

If a developer found a very cheap pci card and mod it, to read/write memory via DMA over lan, then blizzard would never be able to detect anything.

For my case, I would like to use it to copy the memory (or the section of memory) to another computer there can read the data and show me a "big minimap" with all dots on.

From the look of it, it would be more save to use then any other map hack. And needs less updating.

But you could think about it.. i just wanted to let you know

using a custom made hardware card to read memory would be awesome.

Unnecessary I think, as reading memory doesn't get you banned.
And I believe, I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, that writing to memory would be just as detectable if it was done via hardware or software.

But yah, certainly reading and displaying data on a separate monitor via hardware would be cool just to say you did it.
I think there's already an app that does this via software, but that's not as cool.

EDIT: I should mention that the app/hack I'm talking about is an SC2 hack.

I don't see a point to that. Reading isn't detected, and writing via any methods is detectable since you modify the program's memory, hence a simple CRC to detect the whole thing.
