So I've gotten back into d2, and I'm interested in using maximum potential before leaving again (yay d3!)

I've got a buttload of CD Keys, and am interested in running 8-16 bots (not sure how much my pc can handle, though I know d2 is old as dirt so who knows) but I've long learned 4 is your basic max.

With that said, years ago in a land far far away, I read about bypassing this using winsocks, but havent the earthliest clue about it now.

I'm not scared to get my hands dirty, just need pointing in the right direction. Tips?

PS: Not interested in VMware, too much delay when trying to do anything manually.

Per IP you can have a maximum of 4 connections to each gameserver, and 8 connections to chat server.

Yes, I'm already well aware of this, my question was how to bypass it.

Proxies. Good ones that you have to pay for.

You would use something like Sockscap to tunnel different instances of Diablo II to proxies.

The problem isn't really hitting the hard server caps, you will get realm downs way before they ever cause problems.

isn't RD triggered by cd key and inforced via IP?

in other words, it sees my cd key log into 30 games in 30 minutes, and thus gives me RD by temporarily blacklisting my IP?

My initial thought process was to swap keys every 5-10 runs per bot, I have more than enough to go around

depends on your runtime.. i am botting andy/meph at classic
using 5-6 cd keys each sorc and never rly got a problem with rds at a gametime of 60-70 secs..
so if u have enough keys this shouldnt be a prob..
i switch key after every 7th run

Thats what my stratagey is.

I want to get 8-16 hdins running full MF runs (Andy, trav, meph, pindle, diablo, baal) int heir own games, i have enough keys to swap out every game if i want, but i figure thats overkill

the trick is figuring out how to run more than 4 instances of d2 without using vmware. I could easily run 8 that way, possibly 16, though ive never done multiple vmwares at once so I don't know what kind of load that would be.

@Mc God: thanks, sockscap is exactly what I was looking for, as you can see i forgot what it was called.

now to try to find some good proxies... this wont be fun -.-

Get a soft like proxifier, you won have to run a vm in that way. Buy 2-4 good uptime / ping proxys which will coast you about 5$/month each then you can go mass botting.

You could aslo search for friend who runs thei computer 24/24 and make their comp act as proxy server (free way).

you can run 8 on one ip but you can only have 4 chars in the same game at one time past 8 you will need a proxy
