I think more of these programs are needed. I might be a little biased because I am currently a student. I would eventually like to see free college programs. Probably not in the near future but I could see it happening and I think it would be great for America.
I think implementing more of these programs would be like using a band-aid to cure cancer. The cost of higher education has increased 525% since 1985. The point of federal loans is to allow more students to attend university but it's only caused universities to inflate tuition to atrocious and downright criminal levels.

The student loan consolidation is the merging of several student loans, and is done to save money on interest and for the convenience of one payment instead of several. There are plenty of things you should know about student loan consolidation, and this site provides the information you need to make a decision.

I know it was a bot that bumped this thread. But funny that OP is planning on making 55k+ a year and (if not married with kids) thinks that the income repayment will push him through 25 years.

for example I have 2 kids and a wife who doesnt work, my IBR is next to nothing(if not nothing) which I can deal with for 25 years

IMO, if you can't afford to repay your own debt, drop out of school. At that point, you're just as bad as the fuckers that are too lazy to work and are on welfare, foodstamps, WIC, etc.

I graduated with $20k in student loans, about half of what my tuition cost. I paid the other half by working (have had a job since I was 14). My payments are $250/month.
