[EXPLOIT] How to change item name in chat link!

It is totally possible to make a hack plugin that will cull out/block malformed links. It is possible to spoof with all of the new chat things.

you could still make a link look legit and pretend you just found a legendary/set, people will klick it.
Maybe HC Players will tp to town before klicking links in the (near) future though :lol:

I did that today to my friend btw (softcore). He was farming inferno, i joined in and posted a broken link and he dropped (that was my first time testing this). When he came back he flamed me so bad cuz his nephalem stacks were gone ^^

This works because linked items are really just encoded chat text similar to links in WoW. I'm surprised Blizzard didn't put any checks on the links before they go to other clients, this will probably happen soon especially since it can cause crashes.

yes im sure they will fix it Soon™. like in wow where your client crashes when you try to post a modified link.

had a blast with the hellfire torch link. spammed it in the HC channel and noticed that the channel population dropped from 12 to 4 in seconds.

Can't get it to work, I change the values and all, then press check marks and whats supposed to happen? My item changes in-game? or..

Also, how do i post the hell fire torch? I copied and pasted, but wouldn't link?

Yeah I think they patched this. When the client drops does it rollback the client? Wander if this was used for dupe.

Confirmed. Dupe still works. Sad that some people can't figure it out with all the information in this thread. :roll:

If I try and paste the hellfire torch link posted by Alpha a few posts above mine, it doesn't create a link but merely just pastes the text itself.

The tooltip changes when I use cheat engine, but not if I link the item. I'm kinda sensing they fixed this, and the above poster is just trollin a bit
