I've noticed it either sounds like the microphone is 30 miles away from where the scene is being filmed or there is other problem. Usually the effects are either overly loud or extremely quiet and almost always the actors are almost impossible to hear.

Is there a different standard for television audio there than we use here that distorts the audio in some way? The only other thing I can think of is they must buy 30 dollar microphones for filming.


Here is the perfect example of how I imagine the audio in European movies.

by "european" do you mean like downloaded releases? R5s? A lot of time they will sync TC/TS audio with the dvd/bd rip hence you get shittastic sound.

No, nothing like that. I mean legit copies of movies, be it Netflix, On Demand, a DVD or Blu ray and even when shown at American movie theaters. The audio is always off, and I've been wondering if there is just a different standard or maybe it's set up for another type of surround sound or something.

I think you need to provide some examples here. For all we know you could have stumbled upon some Dogme 95' films (doubt it, but it would be nice with some examples).
