I'm very interested in starting to stencil I've always been interested in it does anyone have some suggestions on how to start. I already know how to cut basic one layer stencils already but nothing really with how to make multi-layer stencils look realistic? I've tried to go to stencil revolution but its been down for a while. Thanks in advance

I'm curious as well. I really wanna get into graffiti style art, specifically stencil art

It's all about the shades.

Let's say we have this picture :

I'd say you can have 3 layers for the skin.
.1 for the darkest area
.2 for normal area
.3 for the brightest area

For 1, you only cut the darkest parts... and blablabla. You know what I mean? I'm having difficulty explaining because I speak french.

You always have to spot how much layer you want it to have. It's not as difficult.

If you want your stencil work to look really realistic... making stencil's useless. You're better off painting the whole thing.

You want it to look pop-art'ish, right? Please post a picture of what you really want to do. I might be able to help you more this way.

Yea I love that kind of graffiti, it's a shame we usually get the americanized gangster tagging bullshit here.

I'm going to try to draw some rats and stuff. Then of course practice on something before going to the streets.
