I installed tor into firefox so i can surf for stuff and not get my ip logged and have the party van come over while i look random stuff up : )

But when i try and use tor it says it cannot connect to the proxy but still says tor enabled. You cant load pages or even use it. I searched around for guides on how to use tor and came up with nothing.

Just to be clear, you're having problems using both the Firefox extension for TOR and its desktop client?

If so, which desktop package are you using? Have you tried disabling the browser extension while using the desktop client (presumably the desktop client works fine with Firefox)?

i added the tor addon for firefox (latest version)

In order to run TOR you need 3 programs running at once:

You need tor.exe, which establishes virtual circuits into the TOR network.
You need a web browser (actually, it can be any program that allows for SOCKS proxying). Most people use Firefox because the TORButton addon lets you enable and disable a window's use of TOR on the fly)
You need a TOR proxy (which is usually polipo, but there's other TOR proxies available)
