I think a good start would focus on AFK orb/gem and rare/legendary collections.

Then port back to town and fill up the pages.

I have a "build" of a character suitable to this. Plus there is one particular map perfect for this

Mind sharing?

Yea, it just depends on the changes they are bringing about. I'm not familiar with the new passive skill changes, which are pretty significant compared to before. I had done some build planning, but they are all broken now. I'm sure they'll tweak areas that end up getting used or farmed too much, which should make things interesting. For example, they fixed mervil's room and chest so it's not so long and exploitable, brutus chest, and are reworking the instance system so you can't just farm without progression. Back when I was more active in the beta, the Ledge was a pretty good area to use because of how simple it was. There was another area everyone farmed too in Act 2, fellshrine ruins?, but after one of the patches, the # of mobs in the area was reduced drastically.

I don't know if anyone heard or watched, but Kripparrian posted a video his impressions on PoE: First Impressions. Whether you like him or not, the relevance of that video was that the devs actually got on his stream and were talking with him and his friends about the game and concerns and whatnot. It's pretty clear that GGG is going to be pretty involved with the game's community. I'm pretty sure a few of them will be watching these forums if they are not already. :)

Anyways, I'm looking forward to their upcoming changes and their ways of going about responding to specific things. I expect them to be clever about it, and not the typical knee-jerk reaction that most companies have. I say that because if you look at the direction they have taken the game, it's almost pure innovation and building upon previous things that people liked. Of course, I'm especially excited for the game, after how Diablo 3 went.

I watched his video and agreed with everything he had to say.

I'm also a firm believer that FFA should be optional and something that the party leader can enable or disable. Playing in pub matches as a ranged character is just downright stupid. All of my teammates hover over designated gems waiting for me to misclick.

As far as farming goes...there's an easy way to collect chromatics without combat and I saw a bot in action do it with ease.

Stimmed...pm me as I have some additional ideas to share with you.

I'll probably work on auto-it, the hardest part I can imagine is the loot management so if anyone has any ideas

A smart move would be a modder toolkit then.
While many compananies don't like their game being modded, it would be a smart move to allow the community to create mods for their game and implement it in some patch or special league.
That way the game will be kept alive by modders.

We'd prefer there were no public tools to edit our data formats because they'll encourage people to run modified clients/data, which may cause them to get banned in the future once we start cracking down on people who are cheating. I understand that we can't do much to stop people making these tools, though!

Kind regards,
Chris

Concerning a model editor I wrote.

It's quiet easy to get acess to those files anyway. There are several open source ggpk extractors already.

Instead of extracting them you can also download them directly once you found out how GG is updating.

Patch is the username and abo3na91peiq88 is the password.

Use the huge client.txt to help you to get the files you want.

Actually PoE is that modderfriendly, that you could edit the minimap to generate Paths for Autoit(bah autoit threadflood)

Sure they could scan for any direct modifications but there will be a huge performance loss if they check every file.
Not to mention that they will never catch people who load and unload external content correctly.

Getting the files was no problem, even their model format was easy.
Was just pointing out they won't support official modding tools for the time being.

Also I only recently joined but Merveil doesn't have that map layout anymore and you can't just reset the map

Thank you to the 2 individuals who are helping me start to build my own app for POE. It's nice to see that people can be genuinely helpful and not arrogant pricks.

To reply to the question what would be a good build:

I'm quite sure that a summoner will be useful for botting. I have been playing PoE sometime on hardcore and have several champs over lvl 60. It is quite obvious that summoners can't be matched in safety and killing speed without good items. It is the only build I know that doesn't need to care about doging incoming projectiles. Of course the good game design of PoE allows 100 different summoner builds.

I think botting will be more difficult in PoE, just because of the good game design. The usual way of leveling is doing the quests and running through the game content. Combined with the randomness increasing by every patch, a bot developer needs to create a good AI. Along with this come the difficulty spikes. I talked to Chris and asked him if this is a good idea since it can disrupt the "flow". He told me that this is definitely intended as the not-to-high difficulty keeps flow up while difficulty spikes wake the player up and create tension.
Good for botters is the endgame with its maps. Clearing maps is not as unpredictable as running through quests. Some maps even always have the same layout, but that might be changed in future.

Summoners are too slow for botting. Also Burning ground, elemental damage mods and elemental damage casters kill all summons quiet fast.
The devs will fix this by placing at last one antisummoner group on a map.

Also don't forget they plan to add traps and what would happen if you get a trap that removes all summons.

The best botter characters are 2 skill lightning warp casters, blood rage + leap slam/flickerstrike melees because you can progress really fast.

Not to forget lower level botting to find random chests. You progress far faster while killing mobs.
